Group Work and Workshops

Group Work, Core Process Psychotherapy Foundation Course and Workshops

Group Work

Working in small groups can also help bring about awareness in how we come into relationships. Group work can be, for some, a more challenging and powerful way of opening the enquiry into personal difficulties and suffering. The course of group work is to encourage a contemplative, reflective and exploratory approach to the way we hold our experiences of self and other. It will include a quiet form of sitting or meditation , different forms of experiential work looking at relationships with ourselves and others (in the group) and group dynamics. The programme is run over 10 weeks with groups of 6 to 8 people meeting for 2 hours every week.

Introductory Workshops

The Introductory Day Workshops offer a taste of how we can explore our own personal and interpersonal processes through the themes of presence, resonance, reflection, transformation and integration. These workshops are also a means of understanding how Core Process Psychotherapy works if you are interested in undertaking training with the Karuna Institute.

Dates: 24th July OR 18th September 2010

Venue: Hampstead, London

In these one-day events, we will explore how the Buddhist-based psychological, spiritual and experiential practices come together with western psychotherapeutic understanding in Core Process Psychotherapy. Through talks, discussions and experiential enquiry, participants may develop a deeper sense of the relevance of these practices in their own lives. These events are relevant for those thinking of doing the Foundation course in Core Process Psychotherapy, and also to those who wish to expand their understanding of the spiritual and its link to the psychological. This is also an opportunity for those who are simply curious about how to develop reflective skills in relationships.

Core Process Foundation Course, Samye Dzong, London, October 2010 to March 2011

Trainers: Maura Sills and Chuey Loh

The Foundation Course is intended to give a firm grounding in the basic theory and practice of Core Process Psychotherapy. It is a pre-requisite to the MA in Core Process Psychotherapeutic Practice Training (4 years) and is a complete basic course in itself. Health professionals and therapists find that this course deepens their insight into their own and their clients’ experiences and helps them feel more comfortable with their clients’ spiritual and emotional lives.

Please contact Chuey Loh for more details or go to www.karuna-institute.co.uk for more information on the courses.
